We will have the pleasure to welcome Marion Montaigne who will note and illustrate the story of the congress. She will create a comic which will be put online on her blog (http://tumourrasmoinsbete.blogspot.fr/).
This year, the congress is organized over two days with a very interesting scientific and social program. Here is an overview:
A workshop organized in collaboration with Optitrack, sponsor of the Society of Biomechanics, will be offered as of Thursday morning, in parallel with a session of oral presentations.
The scientific program will also include 3 plenary lectures at which Patricia Thoreux, Patrick Chabrand, and then Katja Mombaur will present their past, current and future works.
As introduction of semi-plenary sessions, conferences presented in pairs will focus on the themes of:
Cardiovascular and respiratory biomechanics: Atherosclerosis and coronary bifurcation: from interventional cardiology to biomechanics (Gérard Finet & Jacques Ohayon);
Cellular and tissue biomechanics: Questions at the interfaces of biology and physics in the field of myology, point of view of biologists (Vincent Gache & Christophe Hourdé);
Biomechanics of growth and remodelling: Modelling growth and remodelling: a state-of-the-art assessment (Antonio DiCarlo & Vittorio Sansalone).
In addition, 80 oral presentations will be devoted to:
Sports biomechanics;
Musculoskeletal biomechanic;
Ergonomics, disability and rehabilitation;
Biomaterials and tissue engineering;
Osteoarticular biomechanics;
Robotics;
Biomechanics of shocks;
Biomechanics of posture and balance.
The social program is not left behind, and it will be intimately linked to our local specialties:
On the first evening, we offer a visit to the Champagne cellars of the famous Pommery estate;
At the end of the congress, we invite you to the traditional gala diner, which will be organized in collaboration with the Centre National des Arts du Cirque, partner of the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Reims. You will visit the CNAC, its historical as well as its new infrastructures, then you will attend a show.
Finally, please note that accepted abstracts are published in a supplement to the Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering journal, open access for the first time this year.
